HELP – AFX won’t load for me!
I have encountered a problem with my AFX to the point that it won’t load for me. For starters, I’m on a Dell XPS 600 running WinXP Media Center Edition, 2GB RAM. No other Production Studio apps are affected.
When I open up AFX, the “loading screen” (for lack of a better word) cycles through the various plugins, etc., that it’s loading, but before the workspace opens, I get the following error message:
“After Effects error: plug-in ‘C:\…\(plug-in name).AEX’ could not be loaded (127). ( 48 :: 46 )”
This error message happens for the following plug-ins:
Audio Palette
Brush Palette
Character Palette
Info Palette
Paint Palette
Paragraph Palette
Time Palette
Tool Palette
Tracker Palette
SmartMask
Wiggler
Align
Motion Sketch
SmootherAfter that, the next window states, “After Effects can’t continue: The tool palette couldn’t be loaded. You will need to reinstall.”
A final window, titled “Invisible OpenGL Buffer Window: AfterFX.exe – Application Error”, states, “The instruction at ‘0x02e5a9c9’ referenced memory at ‘0x00000001’. The memory could not be ‘written’. Click on OK to terminate the program.”
I reinstalled, and it doesn’t change anything. Any ideas or recommendations?

if all those palettes are open in work workspace (or the last time you were able to see your workspace), you may have too many palette windows open… try trashing ae prefs, this should reset the palette windows to the default config.
if that doesn’t help, and you have no other applications running, you may be in for a reinstall (and i think you are).

I have the exact same problem I am running on Vista 64 bit using AE 7.
