I have read that unofficially the Apple Mac Pro (4-core) 1st Gen. – 2006-2007 will work with a Radeon 5770 graphics card. Has anyone gotten this setup or something similar working with FCP X? I am thinking about upgrading to this card so I can use FCP X. But if the upgrade is unofficial, who knows if it will actually work with FCP X. My guess is that it will work, can anyone confirm or deny? Thanks in advance.

Same problem with early 2008 MacPro as well
I’m now hearing several reports of people with 2006-2008 MacPro with 5770 having no problem purchasing and running FCPX so it seems it’ll pass the detection demons.
I just ordered a 5770 from Apple with next day delivery so if it ships tomorrow I should install on Thursday and see what happens.

I would like to note that I have the Radeon 5770 working in my Apple Mac Pro (4-core) 1st Gen. – 2006-2007 Desktop/PC with Final Cut Pro X.
