Who likes Quicktime X better than Quicktime 7?
I certainly don’t. Let’s hope they don’t follow the same path. Those import iMovie project stills makes you thing like they are though…

But isn’t it great that FCPX is not Quicktime based. Let’s see where Apple goes with AV Foundation.
Wouldn’t it be nice if they had a player that could handle all sorts of codecs and container formats. You’d think that could happen given what FCPX can play (supposedly).

Overall I like 7 better, but I’ve noticed that QT X is a much better performer on newer media like mpeg2 and such. But it doesn’t have the pro functions available, so generally it’s pointless for FCP users and is a non argument.

Miss JKL, better trim control and external to window controls in QTx. That last one drives me most nuts because you cannot mouse over a QT X video without seeing controls covering the content- ick.

They have. It’s QT PLayer 7. Handles everything from MKV to WMV to MXF to DPX.

Would be good if understood anamorphic 16:9

See that’s funny, because it always gets my mpegs and anamorphic right and never displays formats wrong. Whilst in QT7 I constantly have to change the settings so that it shows things in the correct aspect. From 4:3 non-square to P2, it always seems to assume it’s square pixels. QT X seems to know on my machine.

I *always* use 7. Beter export, no controls ON TOP of my video, JKL, command F triggers the play action as well. Love it.
