  Rendering size??

  I am fairly new to AAE and have been working on a project with alot of mpg images, video files, audio files, etc. I decided to render one of my compositions and for about a 20 second movie the size was almost 1 gig!! My whole movie will total about 20 minutes…! What is the deal with the file size and what can I do to make it work??

  Please help! Thank you!

  Hi,

  Unfortunately it’s hard to give you much help with the info that you gave us. It’s kind of like saying
  “Oh my, I only have a half a tank of gas left! What should I do?”

  Well, where did you start? Where are you going? and What are you going to do when you get there?

  A 1gig file might be perfectly alright for an uncompressed movie file. It all depends on what you are trying to do and what will you use the file for?

  If you’re working with DV, then yes it’s a little big, but there are benifits and drawbacks for using either codec (DV or uncompressed).

  Need more info.

  I made my movie in Quicktime and used Cinepak to compress. I was shocked how big a 20 second composition turned out to be and figure a 20 minute piece would be huge, like 40 gigs. What compression should I use if any? What is the best way to format into Quicktime in terms of size without too much loss in quality? I really dont know anything about compression so ANY information at all would be great. I know this is pretty general but I guess that’s what I need, some general information.
