    Hi!
Something very silly just happened, my assistant dropped a Canon 50mm 1,4 lens on the floor.

There are no visible cracks anywhere but when turning the focus ring, it does change the focus but it is rather stiff to turn. Also the Autofocus motor can’t change the focus anymore due to its stiffness.

So I was wondering if this kind of problem can be fixed by myself? Anyone has had such a problem already? There is a bunch of youtube videos about this out there so I was wondering if someone can let me know where exactly to look at to fix this.

    Thanks,
    Bernhard

Yes. Contact Canon. My 50 mm 1.4 stopped focusing but not from a drop. I contacted support and they issued an RMA. I sent it in for service, I think it was something like $90 US, and within a week I got a factory serviced to spec lens back.

    Canon has great tech support.
