  • Red Noise on Low Light 70D Footage

    Hi all,

Starting a couple days ago I noticed my Canon 70D is starting to add red noise over any footage I shoot in low light. I have the camera set to ‘P’ mode. What can I do to fix this? Should I update the firmware? Shoot in Manual mode with a lower ISO? Please any advice or support is greatly appreciated.

    Best regards,
    Kevin

If you’re trying to reduce noise on your footage, then yes, shoot a lower ISO. Just because the camera “can” shoot 25600 ISO doesn’t mean you should be shooting at that ISO. Once you start getting over 2500 or so, you’ll probably start to notice on the Canon DSLR. It doesn’t mean the footage is unusable, but for those times where you find yourself cranking up the ISO…that’s probably a time to pull out another light source.

I know the noise will go up. But it’s all red which is weird. Any other solutions?
