Can’t download Technicolor Cinestyle
Posted by Adam Reichardt on January 26, 2015 at 7:47 pmHi All,
I’ve tried on multiple browsers to download the cinestyle camera profile from the below websites. The form needed to register never appears to pop up. Does anyone have experience with this or is willing to email me the profile? Much thanks!

January 27, 2015 at 2:45 amIt’s down for me as well. I tweeted at them to see if they can repair the link.
I should have a copy of it at the shop somewhere…I just have to dig it out. If I can remember I’ll try to look for it this week at work.

January 30, 2015 at 8:28 pmThe Technicolor site is back up and running:
https://www.technicolor.com/en/solutions-services/cinestyle-downloadProbably a good idea to grab a copy and throw it on a thumb drive for future use.

February 7, 2015 at 3:53 pmHey question, Ive used the cinestyle but my footage was heavy with grain so I stopped. Any advice on how to get the best quality out of cinestyle?

Proper exposure. If you’re running your ISO high then you’ll introduce noise into your footage. Cinestyle doesn’t effect your noise levels, it just applies a LOG-style curve to your footage as you record, requiring you to color correct (or apply a LUT) in post. If your footage has too much noise then you need to introduce more light to your sensor so you can drop your ISO down.
The idea when shooting Cinestyle is to expose your footage somewhere between 30 IRE-70 IRE, where 30 IRE represents your blackest black, and 70 IRE represents your whitest white. Then in post you’ll have enough dynamic range to stretch that down to 7.5 IRE and 95 IRE (or more if you’re not going to broadcast). But as I said, in order to do this you have to light your scene appropriately so that you can achieve that exposure range.
