  2 camera video shoot

  I’m going to be shooting some video soon and had planned on using a 2nd camera. Mine is a T2i and the one I would be borrowing is a T3. After looking through the menu on the T3 I noticed that the video formats do not match up with the T2i. The T3 offers no 1920 x 1080 settings and the only 1280 settings it has is at 30 or 25 fps. My T2i has a single 1280 setting of 60 fps. My question is, is it better to shoot at 2 different frames resolutions or shoot the same fps but have the T2i set to 1920 x 1080 and the T3 set to 1280 x 720? My guess is same fps but different screen resolutions. How would I resolve that though when editing? Final product would be on DVD.

  Preferred: Same frame rate, different resolutions.

  NLE solution: setup your timeline as either 1080 or 720 and conform the footage to it. So you’ll either be scaling up the 720 footage to 1080 or downsampling the 1080 footage to 720. Either way is fine. It just depends on your footage, how you plan on delivering, etc.

  Keeping the fps the same though will save you headaches in the end of having to transcode footage to match frame rates.

  Thanks Ryan, that’s what I was thinking. It’s a good feeling to know I was correct in my assumption. Maybe some of this stuff is starting to stick to the walls of my cranium!!
