  Monitoring audio

  How to monitor audio (headphones) from EOS 700D.
  If you plug in an AV cable everything goes black because it switches the signal out..

  Are you trying to monitor audio while you record? Or do you audio to playback separately from the A/V port when screening footage?

  To enable audio monitoring while recording is not possible with standard Canon firmware. You can look into Magic Lantern if you’re willing to hack your cameras firmware (please be aware that this could completely disable your camera AND void your warranty). Unfortunately, Canon has not given its users this feature.

  Canon 700d is not on the list of 2.3 software still on magic lantern, so nothing to do. Check it out via a portable audio recorder and then go on recording.
