I did a test with my Canon T3i where I recorded 1 minute of footage on a 32gb SDHC card, and then 1 minute of footage on a 64gb SDXC card. Both files were roughly 360 mb. I read online that SDXC cards can hold significantly more footage than SDHC cards, which made me think that I would get way more footage from a 64gb SDXC card than two 32gb SDHC cards. If that’s the case, why were the file sizes of the two clips almost identical?

One minute of footage is one minute of footage. It has a fixed size, which, in your case, is 360 MB.

How many such clips can a 32 GB card hold? About 88.
How many such clips can a 64 GB card hold? About 177.

Then why does a 64gb SDXC card hold 16 hours of full HD while a 32gb SDHC card doesn’t hold anywhere close to half of that?
