I just saw an email from Small HD advertising their HDMI port protector for the Mark II.

I didn’t know this was a problem; they claim it forestalls $1k repairs (for damaged HDMI ports) and busted takes (for clips interrupted when the HDMI cable is jostled during a shot).

Is this a solution in search of a problem or a real issue? I use a Canon 60D, and have never given this a moment’s thought.

[Bob Cole] “Is this a solution in search of a problem or a real issue?”

I have never had an issue with this, although I can imagine situation where it could be a problem. If it is any clue, Zacuto has one of these, called the Pincher. https://store.zacuto.com/pincher.html . When I first saw the Pincher (at a whopping $130) I thought it was a luaghable price for what I thought was a small problem. Small HD’s $49 price tag at least seems much more appropriate.
