Filming stops after 4-6 second on 7D with Kingston CF card
I have a weird issue with my Canon 7D and an 8gb Kingston CF card (133X). I’ve had this card since I got the 7D a few years ago and never had a problem with it. Then today, I tried recording video and I noticed it would randomly stop recording after 4-6 seconds.
A closer look at the display during filming showed a little vertical scale that appears in the right side of the viewfinder – the scale would fill to the top and then stop recording, after 4-6 seconds.
Any idea what is causing this? The MOV files weren’t corrupt, just annoyingly short. Is this a problem with the camera or the card?

I’d guess it’s the card. You wrote, you got the card with your 7D a couple of years ago. Cards don’t get better with time.
Had a similar problem with my SDHC cards for my 550D. Sometimes reformattng the card instead of erasing the content helps. If you just erase clips or photos the card gets fragmented (at least that’s what I was told) – formatting the card with the camera seems to be the better and “healthier” solution.——————————————

Hi Stephanie, as mentioned earlier try reformatting the card first if not then get a card with a high write speed than x133.
