Does the Canon 5D HDMI output send a true 1080 stream? We are looking into the Sound Devices Pix 240 but on all our HDMI 1080 monitors the HDMI output of the Canon 5D does not appear to be 1080…

Is it a firmware update or a menu setting?

While recording, the 5D does not output HD. The 5D outputs SD while recording. The 7D outputs HD while recording. Something to do with the 7d having two processors.

But the 7D is a “dumbed down” HD output while recording, is what I have heard…true?

[Rich Rubasch] “But the 7D is a “dumbed down” HD output while recording, is what I have heard…true?”

Heard that also from a friend of mine who owns a 7D… not 100% shure though. The HDMI-output contains all of the screen-information, so no clean feed…

    Hello,
do you know if someone sells an hardware CF Media Player (with SDI or HDMI clean outputs) that supports files created with Canon 5D Mk2 and/or Canon XF300/305?

    Best Regards,
