We have a Vicon motion capture system that we feed LTC to. We need to record timecoded reference video that starts/stops in sync with the Vicon unit.

We’ve settled on using kipro boxes and have written code to trigger them to start/stop recording when we trigger our mocap system to start/stop. We can feed it LTC as well as black burst.

Because of the need to make the cameras “mobile”, and the overwhelming desire to avoid lengths of video cables draped on the floor, we would like to use a wireless solution.

We currently have a motu timecode piece that feeds into a blackburst/DA that has LTC out and black burst out.

The idea is to have a tripod with an HD camera plugged into the Kipro. The Kipro receives signals over it’s wireless interface to start and stop recording. The kipro would also get wireless timecode so it can embed those values into the video it records.

    Questions:
    1. is there a reliable wireless timecode/transmitter? We’re thinking about the ones from Betso: https://www.betso.eu/en/products/16-tcx-multifunctional-16-channel-transceiver-for-time-code-transmission/ but has anyone else experimented with them or other solutions?

    2. how do we get black burst into the kipro wirelessly?

    3. how would we “jam” sync?
