Blurring a background/extracting a foreground image
I’m trying to do an effect in which the background image blurs into the next image, but in the first image there is a man walking across the frame in the foreground that I dont want to be blurred out-in fact I want to make it appear that this man is walking across the frame into the next shot (even though he is currently not in this host) while the background of the first image blurs into the next image. Does anybody know how to do this? Thanks in advance.

If the walking person has been photographed against a blue or green screen then he can be composited over the background layer(s) to appear to be walking from one to the other.
If he is part of one of the BG clips then he will have to be rotoscoped onto a separate layer and composited. This means frame-by-frame animated masking. You can do this inside AE, but it might be easier to export the clip as an image sequence, importing the frame/files into Photoshop and masking, then reimporting and reassembling in AE.
