Activity Forums Adobe After Effects gradient question…

    I know that this is basic as can be, in Photoshop to make a gradient you just use the gradient tool or apply a layer mask and use the gradient on that.

    But how do I do this simple task in After Effects. I know I’m missing something simple.

    Use the Ramp effect in AE. Since AE isn’t really a paint program, most everything is done through effects.

    You can also just make a gradient in Photoshop and import the file into AE. That works if you don’t need to animate the parameters.

    mask out a single white layer, revealing to the black background, and adjust the feather as to the desired gradient.
