• Adobe After Effects

  getting the right book

  Hi there
  I am a Final Cut Pro editor but have recently installed After Effects and want to learn it. Would you know of the right book that would help me out. I have photoshop already and I have average knowledge on that, but would love to have a reference guide/tutorials that will build me up from sctrach.
  Any recomendations would be appreciated

  The best books I have ever seen are the Creating Motion Graphics series by Chris and Trish Meyer.

  But that’s only an opinion. There are other books out there, from good writers, that other folks may be able to recommend. The Adobe Classroom In A Book series is pretty good, though it’s more of a lesson-based approach. Given that you’re just starting out with AE, that may be a good thing.

  The Meyers’ book is an excellent resource but don’t try to go through it too quickly. Take your time and really absorb the material in one section before moving on to the next.

  Antony Bolante’s Visual QuickPro Guide is useful for looking up specific techniques but is not really a beginner-friendly tutorial.

  The books from Lynda.com are pretty good for beginners but I haven’t seen the one for After Effects.

  I don’t particularly like the After Effects CIB as it confuses a lot of beginners.
