    Hi,

I have a project that was shot on the Arri D-21 with the Aja Ki Pro mini recorder. The footage was shot Log-C on Apple ProRes 422 (HQ). The is some noise on the blacks that is distracting in some parts. It’s even worse in the dark blue regions. Does anybody know what caused this noise? I’ve heard that some other people have had the same problem with this camera.

I am currently grading this project on DaVinci Resolve Lite. Does anybody have any suggestions on how I should get rid of it?

    Thank you!

    Mohammad

The D21 is a very, very noisy camera.
I know a company who built a noise reduction tool specifically to deal with D21 footage.

A really good solution is Dark Energy from Cinnafilm. https://cinnafilm.com/dark-energy/dark-energy-professional/
It will run on a Windows machine with Nvidia and costs only $400. It will solve your problems.
