Tonight, our crew overscrewed a 5/8″ screw into our Arriflex SR1, we were able to puncture a 1/2: hole in the bottom of the camera. What would repair costs be on this camera, and does anyone know where it would be possible to view a schematic of the camera online?

    Thank you.

In addition to getting good answers from there, the Blauvelt, New York location of ARRI is a regular Arriflex repair center. Contact Jessica Rivas for the circuit diagram you need. If you repair your camera at your own shop some “window caulking” should stop stray metal splinters nicely. If you`re using a model with a newvicon camera tube viewfinder pickoff you had might as well get a circuit diagram and general mechanical instructions for it at the same time. In between newvicon tube replacements, adjusting beam volts (nudge just a bit more positive) and target volts (nudge negative) keeps things in trim.

Odds are, anyone in sales and service there should be able to handle you.

    Hey Fred,
Jessica is in the LA office, not the NJ location, but anyone in the service dept should be able to help.

Other places to contact would depend on where you are located in the world, but Arri or CSC locations would be the best place to start.

I have heard of that before and it was an expensive repair.

Malcolm, I wouldn`t be so glum for no, no, beneficial reason. Time to patch the bottom hole, get the circuit diagram, and fix the circuit board. Then sweep the metal splinters out of the camera box and reässemble it back into a, the, camera. Why be so glum about your tools that you use for a living? To compare, you don`t take care of diapers with a heavy brow. They`re done and flying on the clothes line.
