  Trying to identifywhat effect this is

  I am trying to make a very similar intro to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1VBk6CwV5s where a bunch of still image cutouts are panned away from to make a larger, broader scene but I am nearly brand new to using AE. If anyone can point me in the right direction as to what this type of work would be called it would be much appreciated.

  look for 2.5 d animation tutorials – plenty out there.

  Like Dave said, you need to create your elements in PS or AI, layer them and then set them in 3d space in AE (I would use 3d layers instead of a plugin like Card Dance) and then create a camera move- simple travel on z axis to reveal the final image.

  Thanks for your response. I think i have a chance at this with the Parallax effect but either way of a solid understanding of how to accomplish what I want. Thanks again.
