Recover footage from damaged SD card?
Hey there,
I have an SD card that is unable to be properly read from any machine. It is a Lexar Professional SDxc 64Gb 600x Speed:
I shot footage using a Canon t3i (600D) On Saturday the card would not read in one Mac, but it read successfully on another. On Sunday we shot more footage, and again it was unsuccessful reading on the first Mac. We didn’t have the second with us, and now it’s on the other side of the state. I have tried putting this card in several different macs (OSX 10.10, 10.9) a PC (Windows 7) with multiple card readers. Every mac says “The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer.” With options to Initialize, Ignore, and Eject. At this point the camera can not even read or write with the card.
I have seen some videos online of people saying you need to format your card then recover it using some special software. It’s of course scary to format a card that I really need footage from, and these videos are not exactly high-quality so I have a hard time trusting them. So I appeal to the COW, does anyone have experience with faulty SD cards, and how can I get my footage?

Try downloading the recovery software from the card manufacturer.
(From toward the bottom of the page you linked to);
Image Rescue 4 software is available via download, enabling you to recover the majority of lost or accidentally deleted photo and video files, even if the card has been corrupted.Good luck

Sorry to hear that. It happened to us one time with the exact card. Lexar will help you recover the files if you send it to them BUT, non of the video files were recovered. Only photos. The software option does not work. We had a backup rolling when it happened. In my case, I just turned camera off since not in use and when I turned it back on, card is unreadable. I used lexar since the beginning of digital and switched to transcend which I thought a low grade card that was given to me. Never had problems in 3 years of constant use.

I’m no photographer, i came from the thread you post in Premiere sub forum.
Any DIY software is only doable for common recovery (accidental deletion, format, re-partition).
Inaccessible card however is another beast, the best thing you could do is to use professional recovery service.There’s reddit ama from people working in this field, and he also post his site:
