Lost 6D video from SD card!
I have lost important video shot with my Canon 6D onto a 32GB memory card! The card was formatted in camera before shooting an important interview with a client lasting over an hour. I viewed files occasionally during and after the shoot showing no apparent problems. A quick look when I plugged in the card to my MacBook two hours later showed working files in the shape I expected. However next day at my editing desk iMac (OS X 10.7.5) when I plugged in the card the files didn’t show up at all. I removed then re-inserted the card and got the error message: “The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer.” The card has not been used or erased and I have run Data Rescue3 software on all of its different modes and got the conclusion, “Data Rescue was unable to find any files” each time I ran it.
This is the SECOND time that this problem has occurred with this equipment combination. I bought my 6D last January and have enjoyed the wonderful full frame still and video capabilities for months on a variety of different brand SD memory cards successfully on numerous and varied projects. A month ago I shot a card’s worth of video shots on site at an event. The files were viewable in the camera during the shoot but disappeared later when I tried to capture them in Final Cut Pro X on the iMac. I had a ‘cleanly erased’ card but I’m pretty sure that on this occasion it was not formatted immediately before the shoot. The card was a trusted reliable Lexar Professional 32 GB 133x speed. Attempts to recover those files with 3 different recovery programs were unsuccessful save one with which I did manage to see the ‘space’ the files had occupied- i.e. the length of the clips and volume on the media, shot times etc. were there, but the clips now were BLACK with no audio, no other image– it also recovered a handful of still images shot during that same session. This Lexar card still sits in a plastic card case, unused since then, in hopes I can recover the files.
On this most recent occasion, I used an HP 32GB class 10 card that I have used enough before to rely on. And as I said I formatted just prior to the shoot. One thing that I know was the same for the two different problem shoots (besides the Canon 6D camera and its operator, me) is that While busy concentrating on the shooting, I let the cards fill up until I got the “CARD FULL” message. I didn’t think anything of that, since I had a recollection of seeing that on other successful occasions. I have since read some forum posts that suggest that running a card up to the “CARD FULL” can be a problem.
CAN ANYONE HELP me to recover these files, or at very least help me to avoid it in future?

Yeah never let the card completly fill up that way – it doesn’t close the file properly. Basically it crashes. Some have had luck recovering files using data recovery software but I can’t recommend any specific apps for you

You can try “Remo recover tool” to recover your video from SD card. This tool may get you out from above said problem. Just try it.

Hey! I am sorry to hear that you guys also lose your important memory card data. Honesty, about a month ago, I did get similar formatted memory card photo loss problems and found most of them were needed in next day. So, without knowing much about data recovery information, I also followed some data recovery suggestions online and took chances with some memory card format recovery software. Luckily, after trying several ones of them, I eventually had recovered many useful photos back.
