  CF vs. SDHC

  I want to get the new Mark III and am curious if there is an advantage to using either CF or SDHC when shooting video?

  Nope. I think compact flash is slightly more stable (maybe 1%), but SD cards are really cheap right now (places like supermediastore.com sell class 10s for less than $1/gig). I’ve only lost footage on an SD card once (T2i). I’ve never lost footage from a CF card (7D and 5D). Doesn’t mean it can’t happen, tho.

  The data rates you’re working with in DSLR video end up making CD card and SDHC card performance pretty identical. It’s more an issue when you’re dealing with say 6fps full RAW stills. that’s a lot of data being pumped through at once. 25 megabit video, not so much. So just be sure to use a decent brand and get at least the speed class card level recommended by the manual for the video format you’re planning to shoot. And you should be good to go…
