  Recording from HDMI out

  I am intersted in recording from HDMI out on DSLR that has a clean signal.

  I have seen the Atomos Ninja.

  What considerations are there for choosing such a device? Is Apple ProRes at 1.7 GB/Min as good as truly uncompressed at 8.5 GB/Min?

  Is it possible to record directly onto a laptop?
