lens for full portrait
Witch lens is good to shoot, for a full portrait from a distance of 4m (13ft)? The person to shoot has 170-180m(6ft). I want to use with Nikon D5100. The lens: 18-55mm, 18-105mm, 55-200mm are good for full portrait?

What’s a ‘full portrait.’ A head and shoulders close-up or a full body shot head to toe? And wouldn’t it make more sense to figure out the lens that works best on the day?

I want to make a filming with a person which has 65-70 inches height (full body capture), from a 160 inches distance. ex.:

Afraid I can’t help you with your lens descision, as mathamatics was always a poor subject with me at school.
However, might I suggest, that when you have decided which lens gives you the most pleasing result, that you have a good, strong, cup of tea.
I always find that a good strong cup of tea, helps to round a stressfull day of artistic descisions off in a very pleasing way !

for ex.: https://www.google.ro/imgres?imgurl=https://mark.atwood.name/me-portrait-full...”The Nikon D5100 has a DX sensor of 23.6 x 15.6 in size. At a distance of 4 meters a 30mm lens will give 2.08 meters on the vertical axis – assuming you are shooting 16×9.
My advice: use a 50mm lens and stand back a little more if you can.

I have the same camera and just did some portraits of a lady last week. My working space was similar, somewhere between 3 and 4 meters distance. I used the Nikon 35mm f1.8G and shot with the camera tipped 90 degrees to produce a taller than wider image aspect ratio. I am very pleased with the results and found that when shooting images in a “portrait” mode as of against a “horizontal” mode the 35 was plenty. If you want to shoot in the horizontal mode, where the image is wider than it is tall, then you are best to use the kits lens as it takes a focal length of about 20-24mm maximum to accomplish that.
