Aspect ratio question
I am filming solo in studio. I hooked up my 5DM2 to one of my monitors (Samsung T260HD) via HDMI cable. Everything looked great.
When I started recording the preview screen stretched very wide. It was like the aspect ratio s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d from 4:3 to 16:9, or something.
I stopped the recording and went to check the clip on my PC, and it looks just fine. The aspect ratio is just stretched during recording. Since I am just doing a ‘talking head’ thing it is not a big deal (this time)… but does anyone know how to correct this condition?

Hi Norman,
No way to correct that. Manufacturers have put the things like that to avoid the HDMI putting out a signal that could be recorded on an external device (NANO, Ki-Pro,..).

They figured it out later, on the 7D, whose image remains intact in this situation.

and then forgot how they did it when they made the T2i and the 60D.

Because they also sell Video cameras. If they would allow a full size/quality signal getting out of the HDMI, who will buy the video cameras?
