Is 24p on a DSLR the same as 24p on the DVX100?
The 24p on a DVX100B or similar NTSC video camera is actually 24 frames in a 29.97 stream. Which means, you’ll have to remove pulldown to get the actual 24 frames.
With the DSLR, is it the same? Or do you get only 24 pictures for every 1 second. Also, I was told it’s 24 and not 23.97 which can make the audio unsynch with the video. How do you use a footage shot at 24p on Premiere and AE? I might shoot with Canon DSLRs like 5D, 7D, or T2i.

The Canon DSLRs shoot 23.98 firm…not 24 in a 29.97 stream. And they shoot 23.98…not solid 24, as long as you have the later versions of the cameras, or have the latest firmware installed on them.
No pulldown to remove, and proper 23.98 (Actually, 23.976 to be exact).

Does that mean if I shoot with a Canon 5D or 7D at 24p, I no longer need to worry about synch problems because now it’s recording at an exact 23.976? Do I just drop the 23.976 footage on Premiere’s 24p sequence and happily edit it?
How about the 25p mode of the camera. Do I just drop the 25p footage on Premiere’s 25P sequence and edit without worrying of synch problems?

We’re planning to connect a shotgun mic or a wireless lapel mic to a 5D or 7D. I have read somewhere that doing that will create problems synching the audio to the video.

Recording audio directly into the camera will be in sync. Because it is being recorded at the same time. But you can’t control nor monitor the audio levels without an external box.
