Dust Cloud?
Posted by Oliver Harrison on April 30, 2016 at 3:39 amHey Guys,
I’m trying to replicate a dust-like storm similar to that found in this video starting at 0:12. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KVvkhUhhck, but much denser. The swirling, horizontal movement is the goal. Any ideas?
Thanks

April 30, 2016 at 2:19 pmI think just looking for stock footage might do the trick. It doesn’t look complicated at all, it’s literally just passing over the video.

April 30, 2016 at 2:33 pmI agree, but I’m having trouble finding stock footage that is just dust, I was thinking some sort of particle system with increased size, horizontal wind, and motion blur, but I can’t get the wavy-like effect or group the particles into clouds.

April 30, 2016 at 6:13 pmWell, I did find a lot of videos that are similar, but I’m not sure if the particle system can make the dust look exactly like the video. Maybe a turbulent displace on the video could help for the swirly effect?

April 30, 2016 at 8:24 pmCould you link me to a few of them? I have been looking for a while but I can’t find anything that fits my description.

April 30, 2016 at 8:26 pmThat’s what I was thinking. Dynamic progressive with high contrast, VC color vibrance to make it brown, and low opacity. Then to make it move I just move the anchor point of the distortion?
Thanks

April 30, 2016 at 11:41 pmHave you ever used the turbulent noise effect? And even if you haven’t, just mess around with it and you’ll come up with something. 🙂
