T2i DSLR rail kit
I’ve spent the past couple days trying to figure out a good rail kit for my T2i.
I’m trying to find something affordable, but dynamic.I basically want the camera to be attached with a Manfrotto quick release.
And with that on, attached to a rod base plate.
Then with 15mm rods, have hand grips on the front and a shoulder piece on the back.
Also on the rods between the hand grips and camera, a follow focus and later, a matte box.Manfrotto Quick Release

Matte BoxI know I can find 15mm rods from many places.
I was looking at the D-Focus follow focus.
If I can’t find any anywhere else, RedRock has hand grips for $22 each.
Matte Boxes are everywhere, and not a primary focus right now.I don’t know where to find or how to search for a Rod Base that I can attach a Manfrotto Quick Release to and I also don’t how to find a shoulder brace that can be attachable to the rod system (besides RedRock).
Any help?

I was maybe thinking about getting the CAvision shoulder kit, then the Dfocus follow focus.
The shoulder kit has the same stuff as the indisystem minus the top handle (which I would like to have) for $195 (including s/h), and the follow focus is $145 (including shipping), but the follow focus would need lens gears.I’ll have to look at the indisystem’s follow focus again. maybe with the accessories it could be cheaper.
And maybe indidsystem has just the top handle.Brandon Morris

The indiSystem follow focus is cheaper, it comes with gears, the D-focus would be $145 + $36/gear.
And the indiSystem top handle alone is $50. So if I bought that alone, for $50 more I could the whole set all from indieSystem and not have to worry about compatibility! I actually would save $38 after shipping for gears and top handle.Thanks for bringing that up, I prob would have missed it!

If you have access to a drill press, you can adapt a rod base into a shoulder mount rail system pretty easily. My husband made one for me for about $80, and I love it. Here it is:

Sorry, unfortunately I don’t have good info on that… I bought a bunch of equipment (tripods, light kit, green screen) from someone who really didn’t know what they were dealing with, and the base plate and rails were just kinda thrown in there. Josh said he saw similar equipment at most camera stores – I’m guessing he looked at places like Samy’s and Calumet.
