  • Which Format for smooth Motions?

    Hello,

i want to do some aerial video with my RC-Microkopter (Heli).

therefore i use a special Camera-Mount that eliminates most of vibrations.

My Question ist: Which Format is the best to get a smooth video? -taking aerial video with a RC-Kopter there are slow motions for example flying over a House…

I made some test with the brand new EOS 550.
1080 p 25 looks very sharp but it is a bit stuttering when moving the Camera or taking a test-video of Cars passing by.
I converted it with FCP to ProRes and watched it in 1080i …
(i noticed that within FCP the native MOV filmed with 1080 25p is marked as “Field Dominance: upper”; athough it is fimed in 25p, not i …)

720p 50 motion is very smooth without any stuttering. -but is is “only” 720…

Usually my Customers produce in 1080i … maybe PAL 576i…
so what do you mean is the best Format for Aerial-Video / best for conversion?

Is there a workaround to get 1080-25p into 50i with smooooooth motions?
Or might it be better converting 720p50 -> 1080i ?

    Thanks,

    Peter
