Will Scarlet really tople Video DSLRs?
For those who are not in the know…
Okay…I admit it. I fell in love with the Red One, and ever since the very first rumors of the Scarlet, I’ve fell in love with that idea too. Then over the last dozen months or so ago, I got over my fantasy of having a Scarlet of my own…which is ridiculous because I would have no good reason to own one, or COMPLETELY overhaul my editing hardware/software/workflow. I, was a fanboy…
Now. I completely understand that there are those out there that would really benefit from getting a Scarlet. Serious “Upper-Class” Indy Productions, I would imagine, would go for this! 3072×1536 pixel, 120fps RAW FORMAT! Common, that’s going to run laps around the equator of the Earth compared to the Video DSLRs.
However, for what I need and care to have, I really don’t need a Scarlet. I will take my Canon 5DMkII or 7D anytime over the Scarlet.
Unless I win the lottery.

We’ve been doing it for about 15 years now and have whole anti-fan-clubs dedicated to hating us for it.
But like RED, do we care? No. There’s no porn here, no on-going flame wars, no racism (that lasts any time at all thanks to The Zapper), and people from every corner of the globe and every race and religion all interact and support each other here.
Those with nasty dispositions and a propensity towards trying to stir the pot, find their accounts turned off with little debate and even less warning.
That RED freely admits it as well, is nice to see.

The price point of the DSLRs vs Scarlet indicate they are targeting different markets.
