  • Mountain Lion 10.8.2 OS X Server and MySQL…

Posted by Scott Goddard on March 5, 2013 at 7:01 pm

I had previously believed that OS X Server 10.8 came with MySQL as written in the latest CatDV Server Manual, however it appears that Apple dropped MySQL in favor of PostgreSQL in 10.7. I cannot seem to find any option to turn this on or off in the OS X Server application. This was a fresh computer running Mountain on which Mac OS X server has been purchased as an app at a later date..

So for people in my situation what is the best route to installation? Simply install MySQL as per the (old) instructions in the manual?

Anyone with any current 10.8 OS X Server and CatDV Server experience? Are there any other options in the OS X server panel that we should be aware of that could potentially cause issues?

It’s super stock. Just do it the old way. (with the 64bit installer, of course)

I’ve been really happy with Mt. Lion other than the 2 extra installs. (You have to do Tomcat as well.)

Hi Bryson, All installed and up and running, very smooth on 10.8.2

I’m liking the new ‘Roles’ aspect.. The licensing server feature is also very useful… Lots to play with.

That’s the kind of posts we like to see. “All clear”.

Enjoy and yes, the product is really evolving this year.

Much to come at NAB too.
