CatDV 9.0.1 crashing using Import Directory
    OS 10.6.8
    MacPro 3.1 (2008)
    8GB RAM.
Happening with both Internal Media Drives so far.

Downloaded Standard Trial and it’s happened on both media drives I’ve attempted so far.

I’m attempting Import Directory on the entire drive. The media on the drives are diverse array of codecs and stills.

I’ve sent in both Crash Log and CatDV Error Log. In my own quick eyeballing I can’t see a correlate. A given drives produces the same Crash Log but the Crash Log for each drive is different. I sent this in on Saturday and, unfortunately, I haven’t received a confirmation that the email and files were received so I have no case number to refer to.

The only correlate is that each drive has very little free space left, well under 10%. But I had thought all caching would be on my system drive which has over 600GB free space and as far as I can see in the lower right of CatDV it’s only using a few hundred MB.

The only other possibility is that there’s a particular media file causing this (crashes always seem to happen about the same time for each drive) so I’m looking to see if the Error log might indicate that although the crash point might be coincidental.

    Steps to Reproduce:
    Open CatDV 9.0.1 Standard Trial
Do not alter any Preferences from default
    File>Import Directory
    select Media Drive
Import begins and after several minutes CatDV crashes (can’t determine if it’s crashing at the exact same point but it seems close to the same proximate time) Does this for two media drives so far.

I’m hoping to avoid the tedium of having to import directory folder by folder as I have a number of drives to go through.

Craig email me offline and we will get you a temporary demo license that may alleviate some of this behavior!

Matt, your server has rejected emails from me from two different accounts.
Diagnostic code: smtp;553 sorry, that domain isn’t in my list of allowed rcpthosts

Yeah I have noticed it is not as stable… and of course save disabled. In most cases this is a bad file. Send me the logs too I will take a look. As for the lack of response we have really had unprecedented interest in the last few months, literally being inundated with requests! We will help get to the bottom of this in the meantime thanks for the patience!

[Matthew Stamos] “Send me the logs too I will take a look.”

Sent Console (Crash) and CatDV Error logs for the two media drives I attempted.

[Matthew Stamos] “As for the lack of response we have really had unprecedented interest in the last few months, literally being inundated with requests!”

Sounds like it’s time to setup and AutoResponder that includes a generated case number.

    You’re welcome.

Could you give us an idea of the file count on that drive?

I’d be curious to know and see if we’re just overloading the app.

    7940 on one.
    49, 241 on the other.

It crashes when importing directories even on the drive with the much lower file count.

Let us know how it goes with the Professional Edition and a code. In looking at you log files and I am by no means the expert on these logs. CatDV is having trouble with the .mpg files it seems. Also there were a few Java errors that maybe prevented by setting java 32 bit as the preferred version. To do this go into you utilities/Java Preferences and check that 32 bit is set to the top. You can drag it up there if it is not see the attached screen shot.
