  • Animated still image need MB – possible in DaVinci?

    Hi Everyone,

I have following issue: I have an old B&W Photography of a house.
I zoom in and tilt down (animate it) to create some movement in the still.
Since it has a lot of lines in the image, the animation gets very choppy and stuttering.
Is there a way to ad a Motion Blur to this animation to help the shot to appear as smoother tilt?

    Thanx a lot.

    Best,

    Sascha

Yes, if you have Resolve Studio, you can use Motion Blur in the Motion tab.

It may or may not help your specific situation — my experience with motion blur is hit and miss.

    Hi Marc,

That was of course my first attempt.
But it’s a relatively slow tilt, so even bumping it up to 80/90 did
    Not show any results.
Also tried to set the resizing for this clip to smooth instead of sharp.
    Nothing.
Very annoying since the same camera movement in the offline
    On AVID rolls buttery smooth.
Can’t imagine that an online tool performs so lousy compared to a NLE.

    Best,

    Sascha.

It is possible your offline version is smoother because it is a lower res version, and is a bit softer around the edges.

You might simply try blurring your footage a small amount in a node before you do the movement.

A fusion connect clip would be a simply way of getting proper motion blur onto you camera movement.

    Hi Glenn,

no, actually the offline was a ProResHQ full res export.
What kind of FUSION connect clip you referering too?
Doing the Motion Blur over the Fusion Tab?

Im still on 14, so I dont use the fusion tab, i use fusion connect, and launch into the full fusion studio program..but either way, fusion can do motion blur on pretty much anything you put a move on.

Thanx, I will try if that MB will do a better job than the one inside the color Tab.

    Sascha
