Imported jpg into gallery. Applied to footage. No change
I like to sum up my problems in the subject, but, to flesh it out a bit, just out of curiosity I grabbed a photo with a distinct color grade and imported it into my gallery. I then dragged it onto my uncorrected node and, voila!, nothing happened. What am I doing wrong? The import is a jpg. Does it have to be a .dpx file?

What are you expecting to happen? You can bring in stills and use them as reference to try and match grades. There’s no drag and drop automagic mystery grade feature. You can get a grade from a saved still but that file needs to be exported from Resolve with the node structure used to make the particular grade.

The grade is the accompanying DRX file; a DPX (or JPG or whatever) has no correction in it per se. The Gallery needs both a DPX and a DRX to provide a still reference and a stored color-correction, by design.

Ah, ok. I was thinking there was that same color matching feature that was in Speedgrade. It was used to match up camera shots but you could also import TGA files and match your video up to the look in those. And that, Tero, was what I was expecting to happen.

There is a shot match feature but it doesn’t work in that way. Page 708 in the latest Resolve 14 manual.
