I’m looking to build a PC that can handle 4K footage in Resolve. Has anyone had experience doing this? If so, what components would I need? Most of the footage is in Sony’s XAVC codec.

    many thanks,

Really interesting. Do you know of anyone who’s built a PC using Max’s recommendations?

Do you recall what it cost you to build? How is it working for you?

Do you recall what it cost you to build?

I live in Europe, Denmark! Prices in the US may not be comparable to the prices in Denmark!

How is it working for you?

Nice with Panasonic GH4, Canon XF100, Dji Mavic Pro, GoPro Hero Black 4

Are you editing 4K footage? If so, ho0w does the system work?

I understand you’re in Denmark, but I can do the exchange into US$ if you tell me the cost.

    thanks!

Yes, I edit 3840×2160 Ultra HD from my GH4 – on my Dji Mavic Pro – I only recording 2.7 – because it’s only records UHD in 60Mbits !

In Davinci with playback problems – you can use:

    Optimized Media
    Proxy Mode
    Render Cache
    or convert to another codec

I do not have an overview of the cost price – think prices are lower in the US!

But what I paid for my Intel i7, 5960x cpu – I can now buy one:
    AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X ProcessorSocket-TR4, 16-Core, 32-Thread, cpu!

You do not need 64GB RAM – 32GB is fine!

    All good info, thanks.

Can anyone tell me the difference in working with a GTX 1080 vs a GTX 1080 Ti? Quite a price difference between these two — is it worth it?

    thanks,

Yes. I originally got a 1050 when I bought my PC. I had a lot of problems with the PC so when I exchanged it I got a 1050 Ti instead. Big difference. I imagine the difference would be just as significant with the 1080.
