    Hi,

Is there a way to import Illustrator dashed lines with their settings, stoke weight, dash and gap values, into After Effects as a shape layer, so that they can be trimmed and animated later?

I know how to make dashed lines in After Effects, but I need to recreate them in After Effects each time and it’s such a time-consuming process. So I was wondering if there’s any scripts to do the job…

    Thanks in advance,
    Mio

Perhaps bring them in twice, once as illustrations with the dash patterns, then as paths? You could use the path as a track matte for the illustration, making it just a bit thicker than the line in the illustration. Then you can animate the matte (stroke) with trim paths.
