Picture Into Sand Effect
Does anyone know of an AE plug-in that will take moving/static footage and turn it into sand blowing away. There is a SUV commerical that is obviously hi-end 3D that has this efffect. It consists of a SUV driving by a Semi carrying many competition SUVs and as it drives by, all the competition SUVs turn into dust. Very nicely done. I am looking for a similar effect for AE, and the better the quality the better. Anyone know of any effects? Thanks to all.

You can also simulate this effect using Shatter with a gradient map and extremely small “pieces.” Add some selective blurring and you’re in business. It will be pretty slow to render for sure. Not quite up to the level of the example you gave, but could be workable.

Sure is! The ‘ol Shatter effect. I guess I’ll give it a go. The producer I’m working with is looking for realistic…How are things?
