About to pull the trigger on this new build (moving over from a life of Mac) and wanted to get some opinions from the community.
Working with 4K footage. Both RAW and ProRes varieties. Editing in Premiere Pro CC, grading in Resolve 12.
A good amount of After Effects motion graphics, linked comps in premiere, etc, etc. Some 3D. Not much.

Here is the part list I’m looking

    CPU: Intel Core i7-5960X 3.0GHz 8-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Asus X99-DELUXE/U3.1 ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard
    Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws 4 series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory
    Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5″ Solid State Drive
Storage: Western Digital BLACK SERIES 2TB 3.5″ 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Video Card (2-Way SLI)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Video Card (2-Way SLI)
Case: Corsair 750D ATX Full Tower Case
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 P2 1000W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro OEM (64-bit)
Sound Card: Asus Xonar DSX 24-bit 192 KHz Sound Card
    Wireless Network Adapter: Gigabyte GC-WB867D-I 802.11a/b/g/n/ac PCI-Express x1 Wi-Fi Adapter
    Total: $3795.53

Let me know what you guys think. Any issues?
I know some might want to recommend going with a Quadro or an AMD Firepro or another workstation grade GPU but everything I’ve read has said the GTX 980ti does a pretty great job in Resolve.

Also curious about configuring the 2 GPUs. Reading about how one should be used to power any GUI. But does that mean Resolve will only benefit from 1 of the GPUs?

    Hello,

I had switched from Mac Pro to PC similar to your list but only one 980TI but I have RED ROCKET X card installed. Also, I’m running Windows 8.1.

6K R3D up to 30p works no problem with Redcine-X but 60p won’t playback without dropping frame.
4K projects in Resolve 12 beta 3 with 6K, 5K materials work fine. But some OFX plugin like Neat Video get stuck. This might be happening even if the project is in HD but setting the RAW to full-debayer.

I’m little stuck sometimes what to do with Prores when customer asks (although Redcine-x Pro does export prores, but from the Resolve, I can’t do prores), getting by, by using XAVC output.

you need a storage solution. 2tb internal 7200 isn’t going to cut it.
