  Monitoring

  I’m working in a lab with a Mac Pro that has Thunderbolt going into an UltraStudio 4K and converting to SDI. The SDI is going out to a TV for monitoring (getting converted to HDMI along the way).

  Is it necessary to always go to SDI for monitoring? We’d like to connect directly out of the MacPro and bypass the UltraStudio 4K.
  When we connect to the tv by Thunderbold -> HDMI directly out of the MacPro, the TV displays as a second monitor. Can this be changed to display only the video? Or is it necessary to use SDI to isolate the video signal?

  Any clarity is most appreciated.

  No, to monitor Da Vinci resolve on a client monitor you need to use a Black Magic design card, but you don’t need to use SDI, you can use HDMI on board output.

  or other supported external display device — BMD makes other options, but its only BMD that Resolve will recognize.
