Adobe AE CC 15 scrubbing preview no longer fast
Hello,
I have CC 14 and CC 15 installed on the same computer. The scrubbing in AE CC 14 is so much faster and all overlays( mask lines ) move with the footage. It works great.
In CC 15 the scrubbing is slower for footage and out of sync with the overlays. So I need to do ram previews to check simple mask changes. In fact, it makes scrubbing almost useless for 4k as the lag between the mask updates and footage is too great.
Is this a “new feature” or known bug? Is there any way to revert to the AE CC 14 behaviour?

Ae CC 2015 is a major re-architecture, separating the renderer from the UI for the first time in Ae’s 20+ year history. This is a huge amount of work, and it’s clearly still in progress, but it’s a necessary step for improving After Effects performance. In Ae CC 2014 and prior, Ae’s performance was seriously limited by its underlying design.
I’d suggest you file a bug on the behavior and use 2014 for now.

Walter is right and the AE team is working on refining AE’s new architecture. Speaking of which, what exact version number of CC 2015 are you running? Issues similar to what you describe have been fixed in some of the updates.

Unfortunately I am on the latest build – 13.7.0124
The issue persists.
I have a few other Hardware configurations. I will try on those.

Darn! I was hoping. Hopefully your other builds will work more pleasantly.
In any case, filing a bug report will be super-useful as the AE team tries to get the new system working. 🙂

I just tried on the latest of everything :
iMac 5k Retina
500GB disk cache on a Fusion drive
32GB of RAM
Mac OSX 10.11.13
AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4GB tex ram
AE – updated todayAnd no luck. I will report as a bug.
