  How best to convert Sony XAVCi files

  Hi,

  We are shooting on the Sony FS7 and have XAVCi files (the highest quality, S-Log 2, Custom settings).

  We want to convert these files to Apple Pro Res for editing. We’ve done so with Davinci Lite but the process takes OH SO LONG.

  Any tips for the fastest, best way to convert these files?

  I am told we need a very powerful computer to do such conversions more quickly.

  I need to buy a new computer. Will the newest most powerful Macbook Pro be powerful enough? Or do I need an iMAC which i understand is more powerful? or a MacPro which I am told is much more powerful but it is much more expensive.

  We will be editing on FCP7 or Adobe Premiere or possibly the new DaVinci Resolve 12

  any tips would be very appreciated!

  The best possible machine to use will be a desktop Mac with tons of RAM (16GB or more) and very fast GPUs. Laptops and iMacs won’t cut it. The mid-priced 6-processor Mac Pro with dual D700s would be a bare minimum, in my opinion.
