  Roundtrip Workflow XDCAM Media in AVID to Resolve 10

  What’s the best roundtrip workflow for XDCAM materials edited in AVID 7 or 6.5, grade to Resolve 10 then back to AVID MC? Do you really have to transcode the MXF in AVID to DNxHD, which then creates new media files for grading? Why can’t Resolve link to the original media?

  Lots of problem occur especially when the edit is effects-heavy when conforming back to AVID (i.e. missing clips, no handles, etc.).

  In my experience having all media transcoded to one DnXHd codec prior to AAF round trip is the only way to get reliable results. Taking a shortcut on this will probably cost you more time and headaches later.
