I’m fairly new to character rigging, so, possibly this is a simple task, but I’m not quite sure how to do it.

I have a character who is picking a bottle up and then placing it into a bag. It works great if I pickwhip the bottle to the characters hand, however, I need to un-parent it when the bottle is in the bag, is this possible, maybe via an expression+slider to turn the parent on and off?

Is there a better way to do this? My characters arm is animated with puppet pins and rotation.

The simplest solution is to split the layer at that point and remove the parenting — or parent it to the bag if it needs to follow it.

Oh, that’s a great idea, I was definitely over thinking it! Thanks so much.
