Viewing offline with audio compared to online with a wipe in resolve
We have a resolve on a Mac that is pretty beefy. It has the PCI extender with 3 cards in it. Sorry I don’t have more tech specs, but it should be able to handle two streams. Here is my question. I have Alexa pro rez 444 footage that I have conformed. I have my offline and an aif audio file. Every thing syncs up and plays back fine. Here is what I want to do. I want to play the conformed media and do a wipe with the offline and be able to hear the audio. In the conform tab, I can see the split, the resolve will play back the offline and the online, but I can’t hear audio. In the color tab, I can see the split between the offline and the conform, I can hear the audio, but the offline does not play back. Can the resolve not do this? When I conform stuff in the smoke, I do a wipe between the offline and the online and I listen to the audio. That is what I want to do in resolve, but I can’t seem to get it to do it. Thanks

i asked this for months … : possibility to playback the offline … at the moment it does not …

No, you can play back the offline in the Conform window side-by side, but I’ve only ever done this for reconciling cut/sync and audio has not been a priority.

off course i mean over the SDI in the client monitor … as i was clearly referring to that …
clients want to see how the offline looked like (the only way around is to create a empty session , drag the offline etc… , but that is not the same because for example clients while working on a shot they want to see that shot playing back as offline (so going to the session created for the offline , take time , plus you have to find that shot , cut the qt to isolate that bit to loop it etc…)

Hi,
my workaround:
-put the offline in an additional videotrack
-ad alpha out on this track, enable a powerwindow to create a wipe, connect key of window to it
-switch the wipe either by switching the track or controll it by using keyout-mixer of the nodeRegards,

Yes, and that didn’t work either, but I have yet to really dig deep into the software. Mutliple playheads seem to work only for your current timeline not the offline.
