  Relinking preconform issues.

  I was given a solid quicktime to grade. I used scene-detection and preconformed it to setup my session, however the quicktime I was given had timecode burned into it so the client went back to the studio to make me a new one.
  In the mean time I graded the temporary quicktime and expected to be able to use the EDL from my first session to cut up the new, clean file.
  However nothing I tried worked until I finally changed the name of the new quicktime to be identical to the old quicktime and used the “change parent directory” feature to trick Resolve into using the new media.
  Is there a way to use an EDL created from scene detecting one media file to cut up another?

  You could open the EDL and change the source file name to the new file.

  Or

  Add the new file for scene detection and apply the EDL over it. But that would get rid of the grades you already did unless you made stills and could load them again..

  So your experience there seems pretty much logical and as expected to me.

  The same EDL should work fine as long as the timecode is the same.
