I’m just revamping my Avid Artist MC Transport for Davinci from Apple Color, and I’m having trouble programming the jog and shuttle controls to work with Resolve. Anybody have any experience with this?

    Thanks in advance!

Resolve does not support the Artist Transport panel.

Thanks, Dwayne – So I guess programming the 13 softbuttons on the Transport is no problem, and that does give me my normal Play, Stop, Fast Forword, etc., controls, plus a bunch of misc. commands. Just no shuttle or jog.

While we’re on the topic, though, any idea how I can program the CG1 > PG1-type commands for copying grades? Right now I have them loaded into the Transport’s numberic pad, which actually works pretty well, but it does leave me with eight lonely-looking buttons on the MC Color!

    Cheer!

    Jason,
thank you for writing some feedback on Transport panel! I don’t have it but thinking about it. Is the jog only thing that doesn’t work on the panel? The soft keys can be programed and the numeric pad works for selecting the shots? If you type in 5 and press enter does it take you on the shot #5? This doesn’t work on normal keyboard numeric pad, only on Resolve panels and Eclipse. Also transport panel?

    Tnx for reply!

Both Jog and Shuttle don’t work on the MC Transport to control DaVinci Resolve. Everything else, including the numeric pad, I’ve been able to program. So that means, MC Transport does NOT automatically select shots – I just programmed each number so that, for example, hitting #1 memorizes whatever grade I have up, and hitting Shift-#1 applies that grade to whatever shot I’ve selected next.

Similarly, I programmed each of the soft buttons ringing the jog wheel to do what they need to: from left, Go to previous clip, Rewind, Play in reverse, Stop, Play forward, Fast forward, and Go to next clip.

It would be nice to see Avid and BM get together to make this device, which I think has a great feel, and a solid build-quality, more useful for Resolve.

Jason tnx for reply! Similar what you did on play/stop… buttons I have done on Logitech mouse, all the scrolls and arrows on mouse now working on those shortcuts. But still… not even fully working Artist panels would offer fast work like Resolve panels. I got word from BM support they are not planing to support Transport. I hope they will put just a little bit more in Color panel support, when I use the saturation knob I just se 0.00 moving nowhere in GUI there is a change of value 🙁 all whit all other controls

    Yes it can be great..
Maybe BM can invest in it for the paid version…

Ironically, it’s in Blackmagic’s best interest to support the Avid controller: while they may miss a very few sales of the DaVinci unit (the price difference is such that there can be only a few people considering one verses the other), they are likely to gain a number of Apple Color converts who had invested in the MC Color controllers.

So far my MC Color is working really well with Resolve, except as I say, the CG1 > PG1 memory buttons and of course the Transport.

    Cheers!

Many thanks for the information about the MC transport and MC color. I’m thinking to make the switch from Color apple to Da Vinci Resolve, but it’s important for me to know if these hardware will run on Da vinci resolve. So, the MC transport not, the MC Color yes.
    Grtz.

We can get the Avid Artist to work in Resolve 8.2.x but its been buggy of late where you lose connection.
I haven’t got deep into it with assigning keys to the unit.
Is there a file that we can just simply load into the EU for Resolve?
