I downloaded and started using Resolve Lite as an alternative to Color. I’ve been testing in one project but noticed some issues I need help resolving. I’m editing Prores 1920 x 1080 clips in a Prores 1280 x 720 sequence so the clips are scaled to 67%. I have titles from FCP’s title generator and a few tracks of audio. The XML edit imports nicely into Resolve. I need to turn off video track 2 (titles) to see my footage on track 1. I’m assuming thats just because Resolve doesn’t support generated titles. After grading I double check all my render settings, making sure I’m going back out as 1920 x 1080 for the footage and 1280 x 720 for the timeline. I render the clips as FCP XML Round-Trip then export the XML file. In FCP, I import the XML into the original project. The new sequence shows up just like with Color. However, I lost all my audio and titles. And the sequence is re-conformed from 720p to 1080p with the clips scaled down to 67%, but because the sequence is now larger I have black space around the edges of my footage. The easy solution is selecting the sequence, going into the settings and resizing it to 720. As much as I love working with Resolve it doesn’t seem as fluid as round-tripping as it is with Color. Anyone else having similar issues?

Resolve requires a little more prep in the round trip workflow. It’s not as tightly integrated with FCP as Color is.

I suggest you remove your titles and place them and the audio back in after importing the XML from Resolve and selecting 720 so that your media is scaled properly.
