  • RED EPIC Anamorphic HDRX R3D files will only preview in full debayer

I’m currently having a problem with a grade on our system.
The DOP shot EPIC Anamorphic mode using HDRX in 25p.
When I set the RED debayer quality in the config panel, these clips only show when set to full debayer.
Any other setting only shows a black frame.
The files seem to work fine in Redcine X at any debayer, although it’s tough to test.
We are using resolve 8.1 on a MAC with dual RedRocket cards.
I need the lower debater settings to get HDRX working, as it’s not realtime at full debayer. I also get GPU exhausted error even though 5k HDRX works fine, although it drops frames at full debayer. (3 x GTX480 GPUs)
As a stopgap I have transcoded all clips to 1080p25 DPX, into 3 streams: A, X, Magicmotion tracks to merge in davinci, but a solution to the problem would be appreciated.

There is an issue with Red 5KANA files and Red Rocket cards in Resolve 8.1. This will be fixed in the next release. If you remove the Red Rocket card(s), it will work for now in 8.1.

    Hi Anders,

We’ve released 8.1.1 today. Download and install that, and your 5KANA issue will be fixed.
