Banding/Moire with RED footage
Grading a RED feature film. I am getting some really bad banding, especially in skin tones that have highlights. I have tried setting the RED codec setting to the various debayer setting with no significant improvement. (no RED Rocket) I find the rendered output slightly better than the preview directly from within DaVinci but it is still not great. I am viewing on a calibrated plasma-through a Cinetal Davio-through HD-SDI. Any ideas on how to improve this. Thanks.

What is delivery format? SDI or HD ? -
Have you tried looking at the footage set to high premium?

Tried all RED decode settings. Panasonic 20 series plasma with dual link HDSDI. Monitoring SDI 422 since mastering format is HDCAM SR 422. I have not tried viewing as 444.

Hi, something amiss here as Resolve is used daily for r3d work without issues.
What does the image look like on the the Resolve Viewer?
What is the source rez? Destination rez? Are you resizing the image using the r3d decoder settings to half premium or is this set to full and resize in Resolve? Do you have the ‘Enable video field processing’ on?Does the exposure of ISO settings look right? Just trying to review items to check.

Did you try “Smoother filter” setting at the settings tab ?
